I have a similar issue where i can't craft JABBA barrels with birch logs, all other wood items seem to work with them though. I suspect it has something to do with the bug that prevents items from stacking when they should be able to.

I don't think that's it. It is definitely something that happens when first starting a world, since my post above i haven't had it happen at all.

I tried both "Direwolf20" entries on the pack list on the launcher for the texture pack and it seems both download the 1.6.4 version, download the pack manually from the link in the op instead.

Does the same for every non vanilla tree i have tried, every now and then it will chop up to 2 or 3 blocks but i have never had the lumber axe fully chop down a non vanilla tree in a single go. Glad i didn't blow resources on making the lumber axe and instead got the king slime one.

It does remove old versions and has for a while, the problem is since the update installer is java based it cannot uninstall the version you installed prior to the one you are actually installing, this is why i said i wish it used a regular installer so that it could cleanly remove all old files...

I really wish Oracle would stop using java applets to update java so that it could uninstall old versions when installing the newest version without us having to go back and do it manually, makes updating fairly useless since stuff tends to continue using the first version installed for some...

I think there is a bug with the vanilla wood, for some reason i am unable to make jabba barrels using birch logs, if i use birch to make the chest and slabs and use another wood type like oak for the logs it works fine but the birch logs themselves don't seem to register for the barrel recipe.
