Pfft, you can kill the dragon with just some blocks, a regular bow and 5 stacks of arrows. It might take some time but it's not really that difficult. Getting enough eyes of ender for the portal is more time consuming and Endermen are also way more dangerous than the dragon.

If you don't mind the FTB modpacks being in their original folder MultiMC can use those directly. There's an option to track FTB instances. You need those folders, too. They include stuff the mods need. They should get created when you start up the game with the mods but better safe than sorry.

If you can add BetterChests it has a player feeding upgrade you can put on a bag you fill with food and it will keep you fed automatically. I think that upgrade is in the 1.6.4 version, too.

What's your render distance? Are you generating new chunks? Could you also post a screenshot of your F3 screen while you are having bad fps?

You need at least 50 survivalist generators to run the harvester and planter at full speed. You also need a large enough field of saplings for the harvester to have work to do or it goes into idle mode for a while when it doesn't find anything to cut.

Melting ice or placing down a source block with a bucket are the only ways to get water sources in the Nether in vanilla survival so those are the only ones specifically made impossible. You can place down source blocks if you have the actual water block as an item, even in survival game mode...

It depends on the system where the files are but the proper way to "reinstall" the launcher is to delete its configs. If you just delete the launcher itself it doesn't get rid of any configs or saved packs. In any case there should be a (hidden) folder somewhere under your user folder called...
