Did you try attacking something before and after the upgrade to see if the damage did in fact stay the same, or are you going just off of the tool tip?

This might not be the case if what you're doing, but I've heard (on this thread) that there is some sort of bug where things don't display properly in the tool tips once you've started upgrading parts.

I set mine up so on my side you have to cross a trench of quick sand, that way any mobs that walk through fall in and die :-)

BnB is particularly resource hungry, especially when it comes to ram. Do you have a widget to monitor your cpu and ram usage?

Boosting your tool is different than leveling it up. Which is why boost xp is listed differently. All tools by default can mine their own level (so an iron pic can mine iron, ect). But once boosted, they can mine the next level up. I didn't look at it, but I'm guessing that his spreadsheet...

If mobs can't get you, they go into grief mode and will start destroying most man made blocks they can get to (planks, cobble, ect). But they will leave naturally occurring blocks alone (dirt, stone, gravel, ect). So you want to build out of that.
