Cacodemon mobs drop them. There are also small and large ghasts, but more rare.

Isn't green the oxidized layer? It should still be orange, unless the unprocessed form has a different color.

You can drink (cold) water bottles instead, your dehydration doesn't increase very fast. They are not just for filling the camel pack. Yeah, all of Iskandar's packs are worth playing :) I wouldn't worry about bugs, they are pretty polished.

There are also timers in RFTools and ProjectRed, if they are in your modpack.

Maybe you could use Minefactory Reloaded RedNet cable system. It really depends on what you need it to look like, from aesthetics perspective. If you need it to look nice and invisible, the options get more limited. If you can live with some sort of wiring, there are many options.

I also started this pack on hardcore. It quickly taught me the error of my ways. Yet I endured, making one hardcore world after another. Same result. I finally played through a softcore version, and made another try at hardcore. Nope.

That was surprisingly interesting to watch :)
