    Yeah, once you have redstone, clocks are no issue. Takes a while to get to redstone now though. Takes longer to work up to those seeds.

    I just stick to producing metal blocks right from the smeltery, then break them by hand as needed (can automate that easily with the compacting chest things too). I only do batches of 9 ores so they come out even. At least for my mass production. For making tools and such I swap in an ingot mold...

    I have found a water hive and a meadows hive in 0.71. In ocean biomes. Elsewhere it's only modest hives that I have seen.

    I think better rods help with catching live fish. But catching more fish means more live fish too. I was using and autofisher with bread bait and reed rods in 0.65 and keeping it powered and it produced a slow but steady stream of live fish of SOME species. Others I don't think are catchable at...

    Someone else has probably answered farther down, but, yes, I had NEI crashes in solo mode. When I stopped clicking on the the icons and hovered and hit the R key instead, I get the same results but no crashes (so far, been hours though.)

    Had same issue. And the howling was making me howl, so I just went into the configs and committed genocide. Also turned off enderminnies attacking creepers. Blessed silence. Mostly.

    Playing in a fresh 0.71 world and clicked on daybloom in NEI and CTDed. Restarted client, did not click on daybloom in NEI (looked it up in Lexica instead...) and quest worked fine, so only issue may be the NEI lookup. Afraid to click it again. :p

    Just before I dug in for night 2 I saw a straw man with a whole pack of dire wolves around it. I dove into the water and swam to the nearest island. Nice and quiet here. It's a small island. :)

    Did that before I even heard them, but don't like it all the way off because... creepers. The wolf howls are just too loud compared to other mob sounds. Not this pack's fault. Oh, spawned in sight of ocean... headed left up coast gathering resources and looking for a place to settle. No issues...

    I think I will completely reinstall in a different folder and then try 0.71, leaving my 0.65 install alone. :) Not that I am paranoid or anything. Then start a fresh world. Bad habit of mine. Never seem to quite reach end-game content.

    Maybe the mutandis mechanic needs to be tweaked slightly, so the first mutation of tall grass gives an equal chance of several "branches" of possible further mutations (flowers, saplings, mushrooms, Witchery plants, etc.) and after that continuing to mutate that item sticks to within that...

    Are those smelteries even operational? In the packs I have played I have never seen one that is. Key components are missing (always missing the controller, the lava tank, drains, faucets, for some) and those can't be made without progressing through the quests to making non-grout-based seared...

    Once you get that far in, isn't it just easier to make sand from essences? I mean, essences grow on... plants! I am dumping my cracked sand into a large barrel at this point and saving it for AE2 singularities :p
