I would call it a bug (along with behaving like water in all other ways), but I don't think it's something the Buildcraft people have any intention to fix.

The blocks are treated as transparent or such, which causes the game to render all the blocks around them as well even if they are not otherwise exposed. Normally Minecraft only renders blocks open to air and actually transparent blocks.

Very doubtful. There's nothing the Barrels communicate with to get them to output themselves. You have to pull items out with a machine, or a BC Wooden Pipe.

In the launcher, you can click on the Options tab, then the Advanced Options button, and you should be able to put in a command to get it to run with Gamebooster in the Additional Java Parameters line. I don't use parameters often enough to tell you what you'd need to put there though.

Oh, right, Exp... Give them a single block area(s) to spawn/fall, almost kill them with fall damage, and either use a melee Turtle or wait for Thaumcraft's Combat Golems to auto-kill them, and use a Brain in a Jar to collect and store the exp for you until you come to collect it.

Spawning them in the air and killing them with fall damage seems to work. Just collect their drops with Obsidian Pipes (more effective if powered) or Redpower... whichever machine collects things like the Obsidian Pipe does. Hungry Chests can work as well, but this isn't the best scenario to put...

Xycraft, Thermal Expansion, Thaumcraft, Redpower, and GregTech are the ones that add ores in the Mindcrack and Direwolf packs, though not all the mods are in both packs. Traincraft adds Oil Sand and Crude Oil ore to the world, but those are not necessary to make use of the mod and are not used...

Minechem is listed on a document they've been using to keep people up to date with the 1.4.6 mod pack releases and updates. Basically it's already planned to be included in the Tech World and/or Ultimate packs.

You can always have the server owner tweak the GregTech config to the server population's liking then distribute the config file so everyone matches.

The Forestry Wiki has out of date information. It's being abandoned for a new one in fact, but it's still incomplete and the information is still being ported from the old one, so it's not much better yet... if even equal.

Use a Redstone Energy Cell. You can adjust how much MJ/t it can output per face, as well as the input. Depending on how you position it, you can give all of them equal energy, or you can just throttle the energy going to the Crucible.

When Ice melts in the Nether, it evaporates. No water.

People are calling it hard mode because of the harder recipes from what it changes in vanilla, IC2 and possibly some other things. Easy mode would be without the recipe changes, which basically just gives you another tier of machines and an even higher tier of power.

MJ -> Magma Crucible -> Geothermal Generator or GregTech Thermal Generator It's a pretty direct conversion when you fuel the Magma Crucible with a Cobblestone generating Igneous Extruder. Also you'll probably want to look into the Petrol Generator which I believe is included in the Mindcrack...

Since someone elsewhere mentioned Turtles can't bucket into a tank either, it sounds like the bug/issue is with the Iron Tanks, not the Deployers.
