    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

I'm not that worried about BuildCraft losing a unique aspect. SpaceToad is working on some awesome stuff since he's been back, so I'm thinking BC may be in for a revival. Either way, different authors put different features in, so I'd rather have another implementation.

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

I decided to play around with some other hammers (Ex Nihilo/Aquilo) in AgSkies, and found out that Lead Hammers are actually pretty awesome. Good durability, destroys blocks quickly, and uses a metal you'll quickly have a surplus of. Not bad! Platinum hammers are crazy quick, but have very low...

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

I'd be interested to see this. I've done a small bit of that, but never got a massive base up. That also has me wondering, what would make for a good, minimal, focus on RoC pack? Possibly a discussion for another topic though.

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

The title screen quotes are sort of similar, yeah? Also, I posted this elsewhere, but in Agrarian Skies (maybe other mod packs?), you can make seared stone out of compressed cobble at an even rate (it used to be reduced). So, chuck in a single higher tier compressed cobble, and massively...

    Running RotaryCraft Extractors by stage?

Is torque ever relevant to speed, our is it just a simple will work/won't work type thing?

How AUTO-MATED Can late game scenarios get?

Beer can taste better breaded. Beer battered fries (use cheap beer) with garlic powder and Old Bay. All other fries will look weak in comparison. If only I could automate that IRL. Closest I've come is having another player craft them for me.

How AUTO-MATED Can late game scenarios get?

Yeah Gendustry really makes bee breeding simple. You just choose what breed you want and get a perfect queen. I don't know if the Advanced Mutatron plays well with automation. I suppose you could use a regular Mutatron and Apiarist Pipes to filter out the queens you aren't looking for. I know...

Tinker's Steelworks for Newbies (A Reference Guide for the Rest Of Us!)

Great guide! The only small tip I have to add is that you can use compressed cobble in the smeltery to speed up the process a little bit. As I recall, it didn't use to be as efficient, but the version of TiCon in Agrarian Skies makes it even.

    Rotarycraft/Reactorcraft Power Progression

Honestly, I think people are too cautious when it comes to using gasoline engines and lubricant. Both will last far longer than you'd think, even with manual processing (except in hydrokinetics). Once you get the most basic setup for either, you can really use them without worrying.

AE Auto Crafting With Rotary Craft

I'm surprised no one mentioned ComputerCraft. While it's usually overkill, it should work for inserting items into the correct slots with a little programming. It'd be nice if another mod had a simple device like GregTech's advanced regulator though (which, as I vaguely recall, was based off off...

    Too easy

Actually, it's not a permanent decrease. It lowers your max health a little bit each time, but you can get it all back by using one item (Human Effigy, fairly common) or get a significant portion back by wearing a ring (as in the other ones). The older games actually had an even harsher...

    Too easy

Eh, their difficulty is often overstated because so few modern games try to be properly difficult. I actually found Dark Souls 2 a lot more forgiving due to an increase in bonfires (check points, basically). It kicked my ass in the beginning because I was rusty and got overconfident (it'll slap...

    Running RotaryCraft Extractors by stage?

Routers are absolutely the way to go. My setup, as I recall: two extractors A.) for stages 1 and 4, the higher torque ones B.) for stages 2 and 3, very high speed Four routers Pull from A at stage two, auto eject to Insert to B at stage 2 Pull from B at stage 4 and eject to Insert into A at...

    Too easy

If Blood n Bones doesn't do it for you, I always highly recommend the Dark Souls series. No building, but a great sense of exploration and the best combat I've seen in a game. The difficulty is usually "be careful and you can avoid every death", but boss fights are legitimately tough. There is...

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

Would the item cannon work to deploy it? Also, aren't there missile versions of that bomb anyway? If not, for activating Redstone remotely and disposably, you could use a molten Redstone florb, I think.

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Yes, that is correct, it will generate new chunks from my understanding. I'm not getting what your question is though. How to prevent it? I would look into the configs, because Reika tends to be very good about adding config options.

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it does indeed work like your second paragraph, sort of like a sideways quarry that continues forever.

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Just checked the in game book, and it claims a 3x3x3 is valid, and the example picture even shows that. I'll try a 3x3x4 I guess...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Does anyone know why a Tinker's Steelworks High Oven might not heat up? I've got everything it needs (and I've tried with it empty), given it a lever so it burns fuel, but no matter how much charcoal or charcoal blocks it burns through, it doesn't generate any heat. When it's off and without...
