I love my Razer DeathAdder. Very nice sliding, perfect sensor, adjustable DPI. I also play many FPS games, so i enjoy the fine control that it gives me. The Logitech G400 is also a pretty good one, but i enjoy the way the Razer feels in my hand much better.

Getting Diamonds before getting a furnace is a question of having enough luck/good enough seed to find a nice Desert Temple/Village/Mineshaft with lots of diamonds in a chest. That's pretty easy.
