Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

Where as BuildCraft better fits in a low tech, steampunky theme (see CovertJaguars "the dark tower"), I've found Thermal expansion better fits a high tech, futuristic theme (see tekkit). I feel as though Ic2 can fit in both depending on mod setup. TE also provides an easy to use IC2 style...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

But that's just it. Potential energy is just as much energy as electricity is. Energy can be defined as the the capacity for work. Even if you don't like that, you must remember that batteries themselves represent potential energy. So regardless of how, when you store energy for later use it...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

You can refuse all you want. That which is true, is not controlled by consensus. Anyone with a fundamental understanding of energy knows that even a small twig is energy storage. This is not up for a vote. I don't understand how anyone could agree with the concept but not believe it to be...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

You still don't get it. That's the point. Buildcraft uses fuel as an equivalent to IC2's EU. Pipes, and what we call MJ, are just extensions of the engines which we feed fuel too. Like I stated before engines and the machines they run act as one. Just as one car is made of both an engine...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

So will it be rebranded IC3 when they're all done ?

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

Thankfully some do, but others who misunderstand Build-Craft are continuously attacking its devs. That's why I made this topic. To educate those who don't understand :) . They may choose to not use build-craft but at-least they'll know why it operates the way it does.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

But that's just it. I never said tanks were storage for MJ, what I'm saying is that it's how buildcraft's energy is stored. Do we say that our cars run on fuel or the kinetic energy produced by the pistons. MJs are very significant in Buildcraft but they are merely the second part of...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

Then those people can go play with a mod whose power network does just that, and stop complaining about Buildcraft. One wouldn't whine to Azanor that they wanted Thaumcrafts magic to operate like Mithion's Ars Magica.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

I really don't want to give up hope. I feel like there's a possibility that many of the users here are just so young that they don't understand that energy =/= electricity. Granted, some just may be fanboy's, however, I'm hoping that atleast some will become more accepting of Kinetic Energy.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

Perhaps you should reread everything I've said.

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

That's the problem. People want everything handed to them in 4 hours.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

While Minecraft (if not all games) may not be fully realistic, they still incorporate realistic elements. Get hit with a sword and it hurts, stay to long under water and you drown. Most mods operate the same way. So yes, there is a level or realism that buildcraft aims for.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

Please consider this. An engine can attach directly to a build-craft machine to move that objects gears thus performaing a task. The Engine and Machine work as one. The pipes are just extensions of the engine. Fuel powers the engine which works in conjunction with the machine. Which would...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

What you're telling me is you don't understand. Let me see if I can better explain. 1) When a IC2 machine receives electricity it may (from a logical point of view) use it to internally convert to kinetic energy to complete a task (such as grinding ore). Build-craft is different where that...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

That's the point. It would be better to think of BuildCraft machines being half complete and an engine being what finishes them. MJ is just the Kinetic Energy moving the gears. The fuel is what powers buildcraft. It can't be compared to EU or RF.

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

I seem to be seeing alot of unrest on both these forums and FTB reddit about a lack of native BuildCraft energy storage (within the buildcraft family), so I thought I'd post a little something to show you all that there is. :) So as you can all see BuildCraft does in fact provide us with...
