To say it's impossible to downgrade would be correct. Too many additions/changes were made to 1.7 to be able to downgrade the world to 1.6.

If you have a world to back up for the Direwolf20 pack, back it up. Then under Options, click "Force Update" then try running the pack again. Hopefully that will get things going for you.

Not sure if this is the source of your problem, but vs You're potentially trying to assign more memory to Java than you have free. Try toning down your max RAM to 3 GB; that's more than enough unless you're using a x128 texture pack or higher.

Add " D:\FTB\" to the exceptions list for your antivirus. If you're not sure how to do this, Google "add exceptions to <antivirus name>".

Fire, If I had to guess, Java didn't install properly. If it had been installed properly, you'd be able to run that script without errors. Try reinstalling Java 1.7.0_51 x64 from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.html

Download the server packs through the FTB launcher. Select the pack and version, the click the "Download Server" button.

Start a new thread. In your FTB launcher, open Options and make sure that "Show Console" and "Reopen launcher when minecraft closes" are checked. Start up the DW20 pack; when it closes, click the "post my log to pastebin.com and post the link it provides to your new thread.

You must be new to modded Minecraft. Packs are never done until a new version of packs come out and mods for older versions of Minecraft stop updating.

Are you using the same version of Horizons as the server? Double check with the admin as he may have updated.

Just a guess, but perhaps that server changed their configs for Ars Magica 2? You should ask them about that.

Why not just an itemduct set to round robin mode?

That might be possible with "Better World Generation 4". I've not messed around with it enough to know if it truly is possible or not, but I've seen some crazy worldgens done with it.
