    Gregtech-centric progression advice?

I am also fairly certain that you can attach buildcraft tanks in the corners of your steam nuke and get more steam out that way. Not sure on the throughput on a railcraft valve, but a railcraft tank is also an option.

    Gregtech-centric progression advice?

the problem with solar is the absolute boring nature of it :c that and big wall of nether pumped thermal gens. You can get started really quickly with these 2 energy sources... but they are no challenge :c

    Gregtech-centric progression advice?

I've started my latest SMP with gregtech in mind and this is the progression I followed: #1 - slag furnace and temporary diamond finding layer 10 mining pit. You need a few diamonds for everything else to work smoothly #2 - you should have found some nikolite in your diamond searching - make...

In SSP, how much do you cheat?

I usually "cheat" when starting a new world by turning on creative, turning on infinite day, and then flying around searching for an interesting biome combo to start in. In my previous unmodded minecraft days I would first build a boat, sail around until I found a cool island, and then build...

    Can high pressure boilers explode?

    Your Ideal Ultimate Pack Additions/Modifications

I really want to add all of the voltz pack (universal electricity) to the ultimate pack. What is this problem with fluid mechanics and how is it fixed?

    Can high pressure boilers explode?

would like to point out that 1 aqueous accumulator is quite enough water to keep a 36H boiler filled forever. The setup is ground layer: XXX WAW XXX layer 1: FFF FFF FFF layer 2-4: HHH HHH HHH X is anything W is water source A is accumulator F is firebox H is high pressure tank

    Can high pressure boilers explode?

They will explode whether or not steam engines are attached. This applies to all types of boilers as well as to the hobbyist steam engine (but not to the thermal expansion steam engine) They will explode under only ONE condition: Hot boiler with no water receives water without cooling off first.

    Haven't been here long but

There was a forum I frequented for several years centered around a module for neverwinter nights. It used to have a flamebait subforum, which was a wonderful place of vitriol and hatred and some of the most creative swearing I've ever seen. It was eventually removed for being boring and useless...

    Are they all connected properly?

good to know. So liquiducts and conduit care more about connections than amount of parallel lines.

    Are they all connected properly?

I suppose my testing with conduits was outdated. good to know the limit is 500.

    Are they all connected properly?

for the record - the answer is 18 industrial steam engines can be attached directly to a boiler, conduits can move over 10,000 MJ per tick without loss (haven't tested with any higher... it seems that there's just a flat 5% loss when moving through any length of conduit) 18 ind steam engines...

    The most underused starting strategies?

you cannot define the space of the support structure. The 3d landmarks are for things like fillers and architects.

    The most underused starting strategies?

heh - need something in a hurry - flip on the combustion engine bank :) Fuel is such a good source of energy, I really don't know why people waste their time with the "infinite" energy that redstone engines provide.
  16. V

    The most underused starting strategies?

it was changed recently, I think last BC update. redstone engines only output into machines directly or as suction on pipes. They no longer output MJ into pipes or conduit (though maybe they work on tesseracts)

    Automating the Forestry Moistener

thread necros gah... yes, liquiducts have a much higher throughput of steam than 2 engines worth. Yes my test was flawed. It's months later now. We didn't even have RP2 when this thread was current...

    Extra Quarry Cobble

very true, and you can run a quarry quite efficiently at 6 MJ a tick with a setup like that. However even at max speed, My 3 quarries don't bring in the amount of resources I want (always lacking lapis and uranium) - and fuel is cheap. I couldn't imagine running a quarry so slowly just so that...

    Extra Quarry Cobble

Just to add to that, quarries are expensive to maintain, they can suck up to 48 MJ/t each off your power grid unless you independently power them all (more trouble than its worth) Then there's the cost of sorting and storage. With extruders you leave behind the "amount" mindset and settle into...

    Extra Quarry Cobble

I just void it all. For the cobble required for the long list of products above, I just igneous extrude it.
