Gregtech has a config setting called "tooeasymode", and that is what it does. It's actually not intended to be used... ever... it's just having a laugh about balance to the illogical extreme opposite of Greg's idea.

Not only is there the IC2 metal former, but there's also a GT plate-bender (steel works in the latter, not the former, not sure about iridium plates).

I'm glad to hear that GT will have universal configs. I echo SpwnX's points about the benefits of of different overall difficulty levels of configs (that of course all have the same IDs anyway). I have a small start at Hard (or maybe really "very hard") configs for a few mods for 1.6 based...

The thing is, Nuclear Reactors aren't just a late-tier generator. You don't have to fill every slot in those things, and you might even save some time using a 128/t reactor over building and making enough charcoal for 13 regular generators for 2.5ish hours. edit: adjusted tone.

Ok, clearly one of you loves IC2 and the other thinks it's obsolete. Luckily, we have universal configs, so both of you can Have it your way®. Yes, IC2 is different now, and enables new things, like more than 2x ore multipliers, but not 5x, while continuing it's theme of craft chains for tech...

Bees are excluded by some play styles. I've been trying to get way into them, but I'm not doing it right or something. UUM gets it done. Likewise, tech perceived to be OP is excluded by some play styles.

80 durability hammer... lame. Do gregtech so you can get the 1280ish durability on a steel hammer instead.

Making big packs like the spoilered ones above is so satisfying when you've finally got things aligned and balanced to your satisfaction (or at least as close as you can get; my natura wood doesn't get Gregged. Oh well.).

See, I agree that the new system makes sense. I always thought it was strange that two 32EU dwarves would walk side by side in a 32 cable. Now, they can't, so as long as you know this new fact going in, you won't pile more than 3 generators on one batbox, and you won't have problems.

Thaumium (used to? still does?) not add additional slots beyond the first if you used multiple parts. Also, it's durability, speed, damage etc. don't matter as the binding/handguard. Otherwise, it's *fantastic* as (just) one of the plates on a hammer/bigshovel/bigaxe. Also, thaumium has...

Besides paper for extra slots, Cactus makes a good weapon crossbar, and cobblestone makes a good tool binding (but not tier 2 tool binding; those still contribute to durability and such).

So we got it to work. We (not for the first time, mind you) deleted everything, reinstalled, and it works. figtreepoke, I suggest doing the same, but try varying where you've placed files like the launcher and your install path.

Got the new Horizons pack today. It runs well on my desktop and my wife's, but on her new Windows 8 laptop, it doesn't. She hosts a Horizons server just fine on it, too. She gets crashes on every attempt to join a server or create a new world, even joining a server she is successfully hosting...

The new IC2 is getting into more craft-chains, not going gregtechy. Gregtech adds a top-level tech tier, and nerfs and strives to extend the earlier IC2 game phases. Applied Energistics completely solves any issues with craft chains you may have.

For Thaumcraft, the player needs to be given the wand recipe and thaumonomicon creation method to get started. What about Blood Magic, Ars Magicka, Witchery, etc.? How does a person get started with those and are they spoiler sensitive the way TC is?
