I think that was by request of Eloraam, she wanted screwdrivers to have durability/use BT, her choice.
Honestly, it's more annoying than anything, you just need to waste another invo slot...
Seems like a waste of energy though, since the pumps barely use anything more than 4 redstone engines worth of energy anyways. Unless you want to attach 6 REs to a tesseract and TP the energy over that, but that seems wasteful and pointless for such little space saved.
From my experience, deployers just don't like cells for whatever reason. I tried making an automated industrial grinder setup without using an MJ power source, but it didn't work because buckets weren't really effective and I couldn't get the deployers to refill cells from an infinite water source.
At best, you can do an indicator light so you can replace them promptly like the Mindcrack guys did. Otherwise, it's going to be slow as molasses if you want to do fully automated production without alvearies.
In the end, it's about easier to just go biofuel, no? Much easier to get, loads less infrastructure, completely automatable(and easily, too), and just as useful, though slightly less MJs per tick.
This will make lava nether pumping even easier- no need for literally any machines now, just slap 4 redstone engines, a pipe and a tesseract down and now you have unlimited lava, completely maintanence free and (somewhat) cheap!
You have to measure the individual power output- tin cable would be fine as they can only output 5 eu/t at max at that height, which is the exact voltage tin can handle.
That's not how EU works. Unless your windmills (invidually) are somehow outputting more than 5 EU/T (which they shouldn't be able to at the height you put it at, and if they did, well, that's bad because they might break), then Tin Cabling is fine. Cables can take infinite amounts of packets-...
Question, why aren't you using tin cables for the windmills? They have the same loss as glass fibre and are perfect for the low voltage windmills provide...
Aren't conduits usually 10% loss in the way people use them? 5% lost to the cell, another 5 to the machines- though I suppose you save a lot more than 10% just by having that buffer in the middle catching excess.
Still, conductive pipes lose absurd amounts of energy + explosions, so meh.
You could also use a magma crucible as a low tech energy sink, as well- the lava gives you 20k MJs in a combustion engine, but keep in mind that you'd only get it back at 1 MJ/T.
If he can't afford to waste some gold on decoration (from personal experience, I always have tons of the crap, without even fabricating it from lava (just from mining) unless I spend it all at once on a project or something (looking at you, Thaumcraft)) then I seriously doubt he has the energy...
How large is your oil buffer? It seems like it would be a bit of a hassle having to constantly find a new oil spout to set up a remote pumping base from.
This is the best idea honestly, just get a few digger's backpacks (2 or 3), a lappack and a drill or laser (whichever you prefer) and go to...
Why not just void pipe (or whatever way you prefer of disposing items) the quarry's cobble and use igneous extruders?
It would be more consistent and you wouldn't need an overflow chest, and you could always have a barrel + extruder seperately for all your cobble needs.
