Another random thing to check is to make sure the redstone control of the AA is disabled. I almost had a boiler explode once. I had the power switch to activate my steam engines run by my AA. When I turned the engines on, it disabled the AA :( I luckily caught it in time.

Yeah I mentioned that in one of my edits above. It seems like Greg intends the Nether to be off-limits until you stumble across steel or fire charges via dungeons or jungle temples or whatever.

I started a new Unhinged world and I think I'm missing something. How do I get steel? It requires a Blast Furnace, which requires materials from the Nether. But to light (open) a Nether Portal, you need a Flint & Steel, which on the Unhinged pack literally requires Steel... So to get steel...

I had my landmarks pop off the ground when setting up the quarry. I lost a couple landmarks this way before taking care when placing them.
