For a server for two people, 1-2 GB should be plenty of RAM. :) Even for packs like Infinity and Direwold20 that should do the trick without a hitch. :) and if 2GB doesn't quite cut it, you'll easily be able to upgrade your server to a higher-tier package anyway. :)

Last time I had a problem like that getting rid of the configs (of the mods in question) solved it. That was back in 1.6 though, so if anything significant changed, I don't know if it'll still help... Worth a try though.

Yeah, I was honestly surprised the altar didn't take the opportunity to troll me right at the beginning of the video. :P The worse thing that happens to me is when I have just enough essentia, and one small flux event causes it to need more essentia brings everything to a halt. :P

Easy way to check: Ominous Woods is a black biome. Black grass, black trees, everything pretty much. Tainted Lands however is a deep and very striking purple.
