No, I have been playing on the recommended version the entire time, 1.3.3. That sounds like the most likely explanation. A couple of the quests further down the line did had things that did not require a steel casing and those items were not marked as already crafted.

I encountered a bug with the quest book while playing. I completed the "5. Industrial revolution! -> Foundations" quest and it immediately said I completed the objectives for the next 7 quests, although I definitely did not prior to completing this one. Screenshot of what happened immediately...

Zyin's HUD has a feature called Safe Overlay. It mimics the F7 feature but is more configurable and 50% less CPU hungry. It also has a bunch of other random stuff if you're interested in that.

Is it intended for the Ender IO combustion generator, Extra Utilities survivalist generator, and Galacticraft's coal generator to be crafted so easily (using their default recipes)? All of the other generators require a lot more resources to craft. It seems like this would encourage the player...

If anyone is planning on using the culinary generator then don't use a the Ender IO crafter with a juicer in it. It will cause your world to freeze/crash and become unplayable. Use the Progressive Automation crafter instead.
