SVGSELAH was founded in 2020 by Jemila Selah. After working as a Cosmetics company for over 3 years, Selah sought change and decided to go to rural parts of Missouri, US together with her family on one among their annual trips. During that visit, she met many talented artisans struggling to earn living wages, and thus the thought for her business was born.
Growing up in Missouri, Meera always enjoyed shopping at places where she could buy directly from the producer - a private interaction that she missed within the big shopping malls of the us . The artisans she met shared stories of their lives, and their skills fascinated her. Unfortunately, without the education or resources to assist them, the artisans had no control over their products or wages and that they were often paid only $1 each day for his or her work. Selah quickly realized that her purchasing power made an enormous difference within the artisans’ lives.
