    Help with smeltery please :D

You can't. Smeltery metals are ordered like a FORTH stack; whatever you put in first, ends up at the bottom. My advice would be to make multiple smelteries.

    Mystcraft and your opinion

I like Mystcraft; but I primarily use it as an upgraded/somewhat more mature version of what the Nether Portal mechanic already should have been, in the sense that you can put portals anywhere you like, rather than needing to care if the co-ordinates are divisible by 8. XCompWiz is somewhat...

    My final position on "balance."

Which is why a} I never play SMP, and b} I assemble mod packs myself. I acknowledge, however, that I should really take the final step and learn Java.

    My final position on "balance."

This was an answer to a question in a recent IC2 thread; which, had I answered it there, would have been buried. It is also truthfully about a much more general topic; that of balance as a whole. This post has allowed me to clarify a lot of things, and figure out how I really feel where...

What are your thoughts on renewable energy?

The problem with this idea, is that it is hell for server hardware. I'm sitting on a quad core i7 at 3.6 Ghz, with 8 Gb of RAM, and an nVidia GTX 480 video card with 1.5 GB of RAM. I have Vsync on in order to prevent the card melting in hot weather, but even so, 16 heat generators from...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

a} It's relatively simple to use, for low level stuff. It isn't necessarily the cheapest mod around to get started in. TE will typically be my second tier. At the moment, my first is a combination of Mekanism, IC2, and Ender IO. During 1.4 it was Cogs of the Machine. b} I/O is extremely...

    Opinions on Dartcraft

Yep. The Forgecraft circle jerk, which I've written about before at length, is I suspect also the real reason why the DW20 pack hasn't changed much since 1.4. It's why at the moment, although I will possibly install DW20 as another base at one point, I'm currently running Resonant Rise. The...

    Opinions on Dartcraft

While I appreciate this opinion, it is possible to take precautions. a} I (periodically) back up my save. b} I generally only use the wrench with either mob spawners or basic inventories such as chests. I've moved JABBA barrels with it, and the result of that was disconcerting. It worked...

    Sorting & Ore Processing

Watching the video on it right now, I can tell you very specifically why that is, in terms of server load. It is because SFM moves almost all of the work involved, from the computer to the user. That is not intended as a criticism; simplicity in almost every case is defined by how much you're...

    Most laggy mods?

I just started using Opis, and wow, what a difference. I couldn't understand why on my beast of a machine, I wasn't reaching a consistent 60 FPS. A couple of audits and Hopper removals later, and my framerate is as smooth as the average infant's rear end. According to my testing so far, when...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

I'm probably a few releases behind where IC2 is concerned, but although the new hammer/cutter mechanics definitely seem to have Greg's nefarious fingerprints on them, his influence over IC2 is not yet at a point where I consider it intolerable. I do not use Gregtech; in fact, I'm willing to say...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

Granted, I haven't gone far enough into IC2 to really know what the Metal Former is for, but depending on what you're doing, I'm guessing Mekanism will probably provide some substitute, which will be a lot easier to implement. Again, Mekanism is the answer here. Truthfully, IC2's voltages...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

Agreed. IC2 has been a staple of mine for a very long time. It's true that a lot of what it provides, is now available from other mods; but there are times when it can be exactly what you need. I'm still using a BC quarry at the moment, but I built one of the advanced ore detectors, in order...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

I'm watching. I remember you as the man who made the inadvertently hilarious video about Ender IO's item conduits. You had a cold, and I couldn't get rid of a mental image of either Christian Bale's Batman, or the old hard rock singer Meat Loaf, during the entire time I was watching it...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

Aidan definitely does some fantastic work. I've been a very happy Mekanism user since early 1.4. One fantastic thing that Mekanism adds is universal power cabling, which will carry EU, MJ, or UE's power. I currently have 16 Mekanism heat generators, and a Basic Energy Cube works as an...
