From what I can tell, FTB's launcher is the correct one here. It could be that FTB is largely maintained in America (I think), while the Mojang launcher is made in Sweden (perhaps Sweden has a different keyboard, with a circumflex in place of the grave accent?)...

Can attest to this. When I did tech support (probably over a year ago now), the amount of *cough* self-righteous *cough* people that got annoyed at you for asking questions that they considered unrelated was... painful.

For any program I've used that has a full-screen mode, that works.

I can't remember if this works for Minecraft, but the industry standard full-screen key is F11.

The current launcher has offline mode, I've tested it multiple times whenever there are complaints that it doesn't work/doesn't exist.
