Certain modpacks exist for certain playstyles and appeal to specific niches so it might be that when trying to add mods that fit with the pack...

use an emerald transport pipe instead of a wooden one. An emerald pipe has an interface that lets you exclude certain items. You could also reprogram the turtle to just drop the stuff into a chest by itself like Platinawolf suggested

no the sound system shutting down happens whenever minecraft crashes, its the nullpointer thats the problem and something at my base thats doing it. I should be able to log on if you reset my player position :(.
