Can I update just my client side NEI while playing on servers using V6 of the Mindcrack Pack?

Yes, it is a direwolf server.. I dont think there would be TOO big of a difference from the mindcrack pack. I'd suggest giving them a call and seeing if things are all running fine with their VPS. Since its shared it may be an issue that they can resolve on their end without a cost.

This is not true, I play on a buddies private server with 1 gig (3 of us) with no issues (Thats 1 gig dedicated to minecraft). Unless creeperhost includes the OS ram usage within that 1 gig than you should have the full 1 gig to run the game with 4 players.

1 gig should hold 4 people without the large machines... do you have multiple worlds/spread far apart from each other with multiple sets of chunks loaded at a time? Regardless... it IS ram heavy unfortunately but adding some ram is always a good idea ;)
