the jar launcher 1.6.91 will not work with newer MC versions, see https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-11993 but there is another problem that the newer MC versions also will not work with 1.6.93 because Mojang shut down the distribution source for Minecraft which is used by this launcher, 1.14...

Oh my god, I'm so glad that I can use a client again on macOS which is taken care of, just opened a ticket with twitch because the jar launcher they supply 1.6.91 is already not working since Sep 2019 (see https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-11993) and now even the newer launcher doesn't work...

In the pyramid there is a button behind a trap door. Push it and wait a long time. It could fix your issue or you are stuck. Like me :-(
