You use manaesence to repair artifacts in an anvil. Mix it in a crafting grid with the material your artifact is made from to get the correct type. IE an "Iron horn of self tooting" needs iron infused manaessence. O and you get manaessence by breaking down artifacts a crafting grid.

Still loving the pack! Here is my little island nation. I added extra utilities as dungeon loot only and had some luck with a Sigil, Lasso and Iron spike. Quite happy with the spike above the dark aurum nexus. With a piston I can either get essence or mob drops.

I love the idea of this pack, reclaiming the world from taint, awesome! It's been a while since I played a magical pack, Thaumcraft research seems too cumbersome. (he said while playing GregTech ;) ) Hopefully the quests will be a good introduction. Starting a world tonight, will keep you posted.
