Where may i find Deep Hives from Magic Bees?

I need the attuned bees so i can get the Spirit Bees (also so i can get the species serum). However with BoP installed it makes it hard to find them. My question is:

Are they biome-specific? I've been told that they're usually found in mountains/hills, is this information correct? If not, could you tell me where i can locate them?
The server i'm on is running the DW20 pack 1.5 pack Version 1.1.1

Are they biome specific though? (do they only spawn in certain biomes, or is it all biomes that they spawn in?)

I don't think they are ! Iv found deep hives mostly in vanilla biomes strangely but some of the places are plains,swamp,extreme hills ! And I generally dig at y 11 -13 with a turtle when I find them !

Deep hives are found in biomes classified (according to BiomeDictionary) as HILLS, MOUNTAIN, or MAGICAL. Depth 10-19 and surrounded by redstone.
