Hey guys, so I am having a bit of trouble when it comes to getting my orchards to work. I have all four sides of the multi farm set to orchard, I am using Apple oak saplings that have been through the treealyzer. now, I could be doing this wrong, but on the forestry wiki page it says that the farms take dirt, not hummus. so I laid down some dirt next to the farms ontop of stone bricks and planted and have grown the apple oak trees. I have fertilizer and water being supplied tot he farm a long with MJs. If i remove the circuit board from the farm the regular tree farm runs fine, but as soon as I put the orchard configuration in it just stops. any help or input is much appreciated! thanks!

Two things: Apple oaks don't work in orchards, to the best of my knowledge. Second, orchards are supposed to do nothing until there is a fruit/nut to collect. Plant a cherry or walnut tree and try again.

yep as stated above the farm does not harvest is the normal manner, ie cut the tree down & collect the drops, now the tree stays in place & the fruit is harvested with out even breaking the leaf blocks, but its takes time lots of time to get it going, most trees like cherry/lemon/nuts all take a long time for the fruit to mature before it can be harvested, so your most likely doing nothing wrong & have it set up fine it just needs time.

Apple oaks have 5x the apple output of a un-analyzed vanilla oak, but only via cutting them down/leaf decay. They do not work in an orchard because, being vanilla trees (the forestry genome doesn't change that fact), they do not use Forestry's "fruit matures in leaf blocks" mechanic. Thus there is nothing for the orchard to harvest.

You can however crossbreed a tree that does use this mechanic with an apple oak to try and get a hybrid that produces apples in its leaf blocks. That will then work flawlessly in an orchard.
