Are you certain you're connected to the internet?

In the future, post your error log to pastebin.com, it makes it easier to read. And not coloured.

Go into Options, click on Advanced Options. Try using a couple of different servers to see if it's a server issue.

You should double-check there isn't a problem with your network or firewall/AV.

Something (I doubt this has happened) that could have done this is your ISP blocking the port that FTB's using. It's a rare occurence, but it can happen.

I don't know if this would work and I never tested it, but go to Options -> Advanced Options and on Additional Java Parameters you should put:
Code:
-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
Let me know if that works!

Have you tried to play on a server after you downgraded to java 6.....
I tried to do that to but FTB crashed when i tried to connect to the server...
It works fine for single player but no multiplayer...
