I have added a few extra mods to the Unleashed pack for single player use and I am wondering if it is possible to create another instance of the Unleashed pack that is untouched for server play that does not contain my extra mods?

The point being that I don't have to go in and disable my custom mods every time I want to play on a server.

Is this possible?

You can't create another instance of Unleashed just like that, what I'd do is 'sabotage' other packs. I think it would be nice to keep the normal Unleashed pack, so we're gonna sabotage another pack and make it your custom version.

1. Copy your Unleashed directory (with your custom mods) somewhere else, maybe your desktop. This is temporary.
2. Choose a pack of the same Minecraft version as Unleashed (1.5.2). If you don't play Unhinged, it's a good candidate as it is high on the list for ease of access and is 1.5.2.
3. Download and run this pack, when it is finished at the title screen just exit the game.
4. Go into the dummy pack directory -> minecraft directory and delete the folders mods, coremods, and config.
5. Copy in the mods, coremods, and config folders from your custom pack (Copy over your saves and stuff as well).
6. Run Unhinged, and it now is running your custom version of Unleashed.
7. Never force update the dummy pack or your pack will be overwritten!
8. Enjoy ;)

Use multimc. There is a function to import ftb packs.

Typically MultiMC is what I would use but for some reason it jacks up the heat on my processor more than the FTB launcher so I try to avoid using it. But thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you I never thought of this method.

aaronfranke's method is what I've always used for testing packs/worlds, and it works great. It's good for having a "vanilla" pack for server play, and to test new mods for compatibility issues or ID conflicts

I never recommend Aaron's method, but it is doable. Also, if you do use that method, take the dummy pack of from recommended and chose a specific version.

The first time I did it, the pack updated versions and I had left it on recommended and lost my modpack. I'm pretty sure the launcher will still autoupdate your pack if you leave it on recommended. I haven't actually used the launcher for more than downloaded a pack or checking a bug in tech support for awhile.
