Tech-supportman, thank God you're here! I have serious issues with the FTB launcher!
Well, it's a long story...
It started out when I wanted to play the new direwolf20 1.6.4 pack with some of my friends. After downloading and installing the pack, the launcher would crash, and the console log shortly after. I was able to take some screenshots before it happened (actual crash logs were impossible to make, because, as I said earlier, the console log crashed with it)
The second image is fading, because the console was already crashing while taking the screenshot.
After trying some stuff that didn't work, I noticed that I didn't have windows 8.1 yet (only shaaaaame -.-).
Like an ordinary person I installed it, so what do you think?
Now the launcher won't even start anymore. It only starts the console log with lots of red lines, always the same ones:
Now, I soon noticed that this problem was quite common. I've followed certain certain troubleshooting guides (http://desk.feed-the-beast.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/9/0/basic-troubleshooting), reinstalled java and ftb multiple times, used a few solutions gained by searching sentences of the log on google, even tried getting the files of another computer that did work onto my laptop (oh yeah, did I mention I wanted to play on my laptop?), ran both exe and jar, tried running as administrator, set the compatibility mode (which even destroyed the console log, so I immediately rewinded that), but all without any progress. I ended up playing ftb on a shitty old computer, but I do want to play it on my laptop. Please help.
Here's some more stuff that might help reveal the problem better:
- There can't be anything wrong with Java, allright? I've downloaded it from Oracle itself (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-se-jre-7-download-432155.html).
- I run a 64x windows 8.1 OS.
- Yes, I have indeed made sure I downloaded the 64x version of Java.
- Keep in mind that if the current problem with the launcher not starting could be resolved, then STILL I may have to deal with the problem that the launcher won't start minecraft.
- Waiting, or trying again DOES NOT fix the problem.
- If I try quitting the console after it fucks up, there always remains a process of Java that can only be found with the task manager ctrl alt delete (i.e. it doesn't show up in any opened programs).
- AND ANOTHER THING: Note that other minecraft launchers do work, such as the Tekkit launcher and Minecraft itself
