This appears to be related to NEI. Last night I had it open in Extended Creative Mode, with items from the XyCraft mod selected. I deleted the string "@mod.XyCraft" from the search window and now I get a crash when ever I open any GUI.

Pastebin of the console log: http://pastebin.com/3QuhAVEk

Pastebin of the crash log: http://pastebin.com/9XH8Z3et

I have tried doing a force update and this does not resolve the issue. I have also tried restoring an earlier backup of the same world that is crashing, and that did the same thing. Only the world in which I changed NEI to Extended Creative Mode is crashing; I can open any GUI in any other world without a crash.

I have about 3 months worth of progress in this world, including getting a Gravity Suit. I would really like to be able to resolve this rather than having to start over.

Back up before you try this. Just a thought. Have you tried deleting the NEI.dat and NEI folder inside the individual save's folder? Also try deleting the NEI folder and NEI.dat inside the saves folder. So try deleting those four things. One of those should Edit:may have the '@mod.XyCraft' string saved in it and is loading back into NEI's search bar each time you load the save.

So basically you want to delete anything that is related to NEI inside the saves folder.

I found the NEI folder and the NEI.dat for my world which was causing this issue and deleted it. I can now open GUIs without a crash.

Thanks to all

Someone posted in the Chickenbones mods thread on the Minecraft forums that this crash I encountered is specific to XyCraft. This mod is the only one that uses colors in the search strings, and attempting to clear it will always cause a crash.

They said that this is something that Soaryn, the mod's author, needs to address.

I just realized that I have a small code thingy.
Code:
cd ~/Desktop/ftb/
export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home
java -jar FTB_Launcher.jar
That makes it to Java 6. And when I use that code I can start Minecraft and join the server, but I can't open GUIs...

Debugged Crash log: http://pastebin.com/H748w00G

EDIT: Can't even join the server now... Have no idea why..
