The thaumic restorer from Vaskii's Thaumic Tinkerer can repair items using Instrumentum, Fabrico or Ordo.

Is there any site detailing the essentia usage - does it cost more to repair items with more expensive materials? Repairing a 1/400 durability unenchanted thaumium pickaxe seemed to consume 100+ Fabrico which seems a mite costly if applied to the durability of a diamond pickaxe or pickaxe of the core.

The wiki said that instrumentum is better then fabrico, which is better than ordo. For my arcane bore, I'm using a fully enchanted pickaxe of the core & it takes about 3 full jars of instrumentum to fully repair. I'm set up to pulverize most of my gravel into flint & auto-feed it into a dedicated alchemical furnace. My only problem is that the reserve jars will not refill with the thaumic restorer hooked up, so I have to use a valve & check it when I go to check on the bore. If you have enchanting plus installed, it seems cheaper & faster to repair with xp, but not as cool.

Provisionally, so far I have 1 Fabrico = +5 durability.
Which is 300 Fabrico to repair a diamond pickaxe. Which is ~5jars worth of Fabrico.
Fabrico being renewable from a treefarm.

I did a single round of testing in my survival world.
Tool: Pickaxe of the Core, unbreaking 3, fortune 3, efficiency 5.
Durability 1499
Essentia use:
Instrumentum 189 (8 to 1) roughly 3 stacks of flint
Fabrico 303 (5 to 1) a little over a stack of crafting tables
Ordo 576 (2.6 to 1) slightly under 9 stacks of iron

The restorer seems to create a vacuum in the pipes holding 1 essentia per section in the pipes even when not in use, so my numbers may be off by 1-4 points.

In my experiment I did a pre-repair. I burnt up a few workbenches to get the item slightly repaired. Then I checked the durability, burnt up 16 workbenches (exactly 64 Fabrico) and checked the durability again.
It changed by _exactly_ 320.
The base durability of the item changed by 61 though. Unless i wasn't paying attention but I thought diamond pickaxes had a durability of 1500? The base durability was 1561 at the end of the test.

It seems like Fabrico is the way to go unless you have a ton of excess flint (or pulverize all your gravel). Considering you'd probably still want a tree farm for charcoal, I don't think I'd bother with Flint for an automated system. Is the rate of repair the same?

I didn't track the time, as I only had the instrumentum on hand and had to make the rest as I went along. It might be interesting to do a side by side comparison in creative now that I know how much it takes of each.

My guess is, in terms of coding, the rate of essentia usage would be constant. So repairing with Instrumentum should be 8/5x the speed of repairing with Fabrico.

Essentia tubing delivers 1 essentia per tick?

So a fully damaged diamond pickaxe would take 1500/8 = 188 instrumentum essentia over as many ticks /20 = 9 seconds to repair with fully stocked supplies.

That seems faster than ive experienced.

Essentia tubes hold 1 essentia when an empty thaumic restorer is sucking on the line, this goes back in the bottle when you break the restorer. It does seem to run significantly faster in a remote location than it does in my base with everything around it running. Lag makes a big difference.

Is there a way to unlock all the research in creative? I really don't want to have to scan all the things all over again just to test this. It can wait if I'm going to set up the test in my survival world.

you need to edit thaumcraft.cfg to enable the cheatmode creative thaumanomicon. Then giving the item to yourself in creative mode unlocks all research.

Just one caveat: enabling that config apparently allows the cheatsheet to spawn as dungeon loot in survival, or so I've heard.
