So, I'm a big noob when it comes to redstone. The only two "builds" I've done are the double sticky piston door and a wheat farm (the one that holds water with pistons and release it). That's about it.

Lately I've been thinking I'd like to start messing with redstone a little bit, mainly with some useful small contraptions, some that come handy around my base. Vanilla redstone that is and I'm in 1.5.1.

But I don't know how to get me started you know? I have no idea of little things I can do around my base, and I'm not really interested in reading about gates at this point. If I start with circuits I'll get bored right away.

So I turn to you, most of you are a hell of a lot more experienced than me and I believe you have some ideas or maybe a guide for me to mess with.

I agree that DocM and Etho are great.
I also, personally, really like some of the stuff that Monkeyfarm does in some of his videos. There are plenty of YouTubers with more redstone knowledge than him, but he's really good at building simple, practical stuff. Such as an automatic chicken cooker or AFK melon farm. Plus I love the aesthetic style that he incorporates. :D

ah yes Monkeyfarm, forgot to mention Xisumavoid as well ... generally someone from hermitcraft / mindcrack will have something useful :)

Cheers guys, I'm already subscribed to Etho and Doc but I didn't know they had tutorials, will definitely check them out along with xisuma and Sethbling.
