Back in the day, I used the turret mod by SanAndreasSP (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...ods/1276277-1-5-2-sp-mp-lan-turret-mod-v3-0-1) then switched over to ICBM mod for turrets since turret mod hasn't updated (it's now open source due to author having no time for it but no one has picked it up).
In 1.7 there's a real lack of turret mods. I know of FatherToasts utility mobs mod, but that's kinda lacking when compared to the ones I've used before. There's also those deadly turrets by Reika but that's overkill for what I'm after.
