Mine stays running for some reason?

And are you sure yours is closing or is it being minimized to the taskbar like mine is?

And are you using Java 8 or 7 ?

It does by default, you should look in your settings tab in the launcher.
I had first Java 7, then 8, at both the Launcher closed at start.

Is it closing or minimizing... I bet its minimizing.

And there is NO option to close the launcher when you launch the game.

My launcher closes. It doesn't minimize, it closes.

I tried Java 7 and 8... yeah the launcher looks like it closes but if you check you will have a small icon on your taskbar for the launcher.
It does NOT close.

Again, my launcher closes. I've been using FTB since 1.5 and been running several tests with each modpack, I kinda pay attention to that stuff.

Well then why is there an icon left in the taskbar and when you right click it you also get an option to Kill minecraft, to me thats a sign that is ids left running when Minecraft has launched.

Hit ctrl-at-del when you launch a mod pack and tell me if you have to instances of java running.

If it actually is supposed to close I would love to know whay mine does not on java 7 and java 8.

This is what I see even after Minecraft has launched..

That makes sense. Never noticed that icon myself, my windows bar auto-hides, and even then the icon is hidden.

This is your confusion OP.

Oh its the console.... ok lol

Anyway to have that just close once you launch the game?
I usually just kill the process and the game launches with no issues.

I just dont like having another Java process running while I am playing,

There's an option in the launcher to change weather or not to display the console.

Yeah I have it turned off cause I read it causes issues.
But not showing the console does not turn it off it still runs in the background, you
just do not see it anymore.

Yeah, It's good to have the console running and visible if you are running into lag or are getting booted from your SSP world. You can look at the console as it's running to see what kind of errors it's throwing up.

I am running a server at the moment and its been running great for quite a while now.
Just had some java issues with the client which I seem to have sorted out now. (/knock wood).

Thanks everyone for all the help in this thread, I really appreciate it.
