Slime Crystals for Tinker's Construct?

Ok I found a slime island in the sky and collected enough slimes to make a nice stack of slime crystals. The problem is that they don't seem to work in any of the recipes in either the Tool Station or the Tool Forge.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe a link that shows how to use them?

1 slime crystals are used in part builder
2 make sure you're not confusing slime balls with slime crystals

You smelted them, right? Assuming you did as you called them slime crystals, rather than slime balls, but just checking.
