skyfactory 3 crashing

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Details of the issue The modpack crashes when it's almost done loading.
I have just removed some mods:fence overhaul, bettercombat, actuallycomputers, apple shields, bed bugs, better than bunnies, chisel, chisel and bits, clipboard, controlling, cooking for blockheads, custom main menu, decocraft, drawersbits, extra bit manipulation, googly eyes, headcrumbs, hydrogel, minemenu, minicoal, missing pieces, moar signs, opencomputers, rangedpumps, redstonepaste, resource loader, scanner, shearmadness, stacks on stacks2, supercircuitmaker, twitchcrumbs, waddles, withercrumbs, xpring. I think the modpack is crashing because of ram issues but I am not sure.

You are correct about the memory issue. The pack requires 4gb minimum and you only have 4gb total. So unfortunately you will need more memory. It will run with 8gb but will benefit from 16gb.

Except the game takes 8gb of ram to load, not 4.
Pretty much. If your computer doesn't have at least 12g of ram you can't even play the pack. I've got -xmx set to 4g and javaw.exe will at best be ~7g of ram at launch. During play I've even had it go as high as 10+g, at which point I had to close the client. It's kind of ridiculous how much ram is being used. It's so high that I've been teetering on reporting the high memory requirement as a bug.

I have 8GB and set 5GB and it loads successfully. After few minutes it takes only ~2,5 GB.

It has. Some mod is causing a memory leak and Darkosto's dev version patched it

You said it was patched, but where might we (who rarely hop on the forums) find said patched version? ;)
I ask, only because I know running this as a server might be a bit of a stretch for some of my regulars.
