Okay. I know tinkers construct adds a bunch of ways to make bows and I know natura adds bows. So my question is what is the best (or most ideal) bow to make? I am specifically looking for something to use in conjunction with fighting boss type mobs like those from twilight forest and the vanilla bosses.

I have heard that tinkers construct makes a mean bow and arrow but that source also provided no info about what bow and arrow combo they were speaking of... So help appreciated

:)

2 slimerods, enchanted bowstring, alumite arrow Head, cactus rod, feather fletching. Use Quartz on arrows and redstone and a moss ball on the bow.
That is what DW20 used, not necessarily the optimal design. For example, Mhnamhna heads do more damage, at a reduced range. For shorter distances, this can easily be superior. Also, a Paper rod can give additional enchantment slots.

The cool thing about TiCo bows/arrows is that you can make different arrows for different situations. One set has Flaming to deal damage over time, one set doesn't have flaming to go Nether delving with, one set with each type of bane that you feel like you would need... that kind of thing.

Also, can you put Knockback on an arrow? I remember the Diablo rogue with a Bear bow was hellishly effective...

Overall, DW20's loadout is very good for medium range combat, which helps quite a bit against bosses like Naga and Hydra. I would use a sword at closer ranges if one can due to swing speed being much quicker than a drawing a bow.

One word: Battleaxe. ;)
Still won't save you unless you one-shot. Besides, Battleaxes require the forge, and a whole crapton of resources. Bow and arrows are relatively cheap. Heck, if you really want, just make basic flint/wood/feather arrows, maybe one piece of quartz per stack, and you've got disposable arrows again.

I see, I usually just use my railgun while I hover in the nether. :p Pardon me for the lack of knowledge regarding nitro creepers' volatile nature.

I played around with the TiC bows giving them a few tries. But in the end I always return to vanilla bows... for one reason Infinity. The ability to basically have nearly unlimited arrows trumps most other options as I like to use bows as my primary attack in most cases. I can burn through a stack of TiC arrows on a single trip to the nether and that gets costly fast. The TiC bows are nice for say boss combat but day to day use an vanilla bow with infinity and unbreaking will get much more mileage.

The main issue I have with TiC bows and arrows is that vanilla bows and arrows are so easy to get once you have a skeleton spawner up and running. I can't be bothered to craft something if I have tons of the stuff ready to go without having to do much.

Vanilla bows and arrows are just too easy to get compared to TiC ones and the advantages TiC bows offer over the vanilla ones are too small to make them worthwhile imo.
The main reason I do like the other TiC tools is because they eliminate the randomness of enchanting at the cost of resources and they have some very neat effects. For me to consider crafting TiC bows and arrows they really need something more special though.

If its unleashed, you can always use the force bow. The stupid powerful upgrade that disables creeper explosions is exceptionally handy, and arrows are extremely cheap to make. I don't know if anything beats how insanely strong the MPS rail gun in open space like boss fights, though it makes the fights boring and underwhelming.
