Sreach. its up on the right.

But basicly it quickly kills the bee making its life cycle instant. Good for when your trying to breed in traits.

I think those are nova frames.

Oblivion frames have a high mutation chance instead. DoctorOr told me it's high enough to turn your princess swarmer, but I've been using them plenty and it hasn't happened to me yet.

It's up to you if you wanna risk that.

Nova frames kill your bees instantly AND increase mutation chance.

So if they're a nova frame with durability, then it makes sense to be shortening the bee lifespan and increasing mutation chance

The Oblivion Frame is a type of frame added by the Thaumic Bees mod for use in an Apiary or Alveary. The Oblivion Frame is found in dungeon chests and cannot be crafted either by conventional or thaumaturgical means. The Oblivion Frame is very powerful, but it is not very durable. The Oblivion Frame has only 60 durability, but a single Oblivion Frame in an Apiary (or in an Alveary's Frame Housing) reduces the lifespan of the queen residing in the Apiary or Alveary to a single life cycle (27.5 seconds) allowing for very, very rapid bee breeding. However, an Oblivion Frame draws about 15 Vis from the air per use and releases (?) aspects into the aura as flux. The same effect that an Oblivion Frame gives can be achieved in an Alveary with the use of, at most, six Chocolate Frames at no cost to the local Aura.

The whole point seems to be to get chocolate frame functionality before alvearies. It's useful if you don't have anything else to do while the bees do one life cycle. Especially when it can rain and there's night half of the time and your bees won't tolerate those when you're just starting. Cross breeding of course, doing pure bees with it wouldn't make any sense.

I'm pretty sure they don't. Can't remember the numbers offhand, but as I recall, one uranium ore in a mutator will exactly hit the maximum mutation bonus without risking turning your princess artificial, and uranium ore gives significantly more mutation bonus than three soul frames. I'd check the bee math thread for more specific info.

Am I the only one who read the title and thought Eloraam had released a private beta of RP2 in which Direwolf showcased a crazy psycho-addition to the frame system?

My understanding and use of the Oblivion Frame is that like the Nova Frame is kills the bees in 1 tick, but unlike the Nova Frame, instead of causing mutation, it caused the bees to become pure, getting rid of any hybrid traits. That is only my experience however...
