So in the 1.6.4 mod packs industrial craft seems to have gone through some huge changes. It was was always my favorite mod in the FTB and Tekkit packs, but now I'm not so sure.

You have to make extra tools and a bunch of the recipes have changed. I liked it the way it was before. How does everyone else feel about it?

That you need plates instead of ingots is just some minor change imo. You can setup some machines to make those too so no real biggy.

The biggest change for me is how the power flow is working now. I do not fully understand it yet and was unable to find any reliable source to find info so if anyone knows a website with up-to-date info I'd be really thankful! From what I understand the EU you send through a cable are not separate packets anymore. So if you have 4 generators burning coal at 10 EU/t, there is a flow of 40 eu/t through the cable, not 4 times 10 eu as it used to be. That also means that 4 generators behind one batbox will blow up the batbox. This makes it really hard to make a big power network. I setup small power generation stuff now, mostly one generator per device or something (but that is just because I don't fully understand it yet, I guess).

I haven't even gotten that far yet. I jumped straight into survival and started seeing that I needed to make plates and craft extra tools. I guess I'm gonna have to play with it all in creative mode now.

Yeah playing in creative could save you some holes in your base ;)

Btw those metal plates can be crafted two ways. First with the hammer but here is also a metal former machine which basically does the same. That machine can be used to make cables and casings too.

''Oh noes, some mod is expanding but made itself more expensive i have to go creative because if i fuck up i lose my machines and it so Soooooooo explensive even with all these ore doubling/tripling and overall cheap ways of gettings ores!''

Excuse me? We're having a grown-up conversation here about the changes in IC2 exp. There is nothing wrong with playing around with it in creative to learn how it works.
Please, leave us alone.

Somewhere over the rainbow.
The problem with the new IC2, is that the dev of GregTech took it (GregoriusT I think), so now it will slowly become harder and harder, and one day, IC2 will be only for end game when you have infinite ressources, but at same time, I understand what he's done with it at least for the plates and such, how could you bend metal without a plate former after all, we're not superman in Minecraft (except if we have the mods for it of course), and I just hope that the makeover is done yet and that he won't make IC2 look like Gregtech, which is the mod I hate the most seriously, too much time needed for everything in that mod, but its a challenge some people like and I respect that, I've done it once in MC1.4.7 with Gregtech and a bunch of addons, it was a nightmare but worth it once all the machines are automated with logistic pipes its awesome...

From what I've heard and read the changes are more being pushed by Player, not GregT, including the now notorious and infamous fuel nerf that now spans pretty much all mods.

As much as I may not like Gregtech due to it's needless grind and GregT due to his attitude towards other devs and players, the onus of the current direction of IC2exp is really on Player.

Well, I kinda agree that they made it harder, as long as it isn't grinding all day, some extra crafting doesn't hurt... they could make a macerator require 9 diamond blocks, but they didn't, they merely want to balance the game, and thats a great decision in my opinion.

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Just had to craft some solar panels, it was a real pain this time, with all the plates, circuit recipe that changed and all, quite a massive task, can't wait to have an AE network started but we need a reliable source of power for it, so needed to craft some solar panels first...

I dont personally mind the difficulty increase or complexity now. I have more issues with the way they changed the power flows thru cables. Basically having to use signs or notes now to know how much power I have running thru a cable line since the multiple packets are no longer around. Accidently hooking up a a new generator and blowing up my machines hasn't been pretty.
