Needing assistance with Servers

Hello everyone, I've been away for quite a long time, but, glad to be returning. A friend of mine and I are starting am FTB Unleashed server. He is unable to run anything higher at the moment, so we are settling on this pack. My question is, we have a vanilla map we have been using for quite some time now. I know i can use that map as the FTB map but, he feels he is not ready for FTB. He prefers to stay in vanilla, and for me, vanilla has gotten so boring, I rather have a root canal. So, my question is, is there a way to do the following:

1. Use vanilla launcher to connect to the server running FTB unleashed

2. Can i limit the mods he has access to so he is "technically" playing vanilla?

3. If neither of those work, is there a way to use Mystcraft as a pseudo, Multiverse plugin since bukkit forge and such arent available anymore? This way we are on the same server, but he can play his vanilla world and i can be on FTB?

I understand this may create issues for map backups if he wants to go back to vanilla, but, we can cross that bridge later i suppose.

Any help on this would be awesome, I have been searching the internet for awhile now looking for answers and they havent been very easy to find. Thank you in advance

1. Not quite sure what you mean by this but let me say one thing, if the server is running mods then the client MUST run those mods too (with the exception of a few server side and client side only mods).

2. I heard of ways to do this but can't find what it is, I know there are mod packs out there which unlock mods as part of a progression system so technically you might be able to.

He can play vanilla if he ignores the mods you don't need anything special it's up to him to stay away from the mods.

Hello, any of these would be not mostly be possible as far as I know.
1. No it is FTB after all
2. Same reason as above and your using mods not plugins (meaning both clients need the modded FTB)
3. Yes and no.. You could in theory create a different world but the modded worldgen would still exists (oil, ores, and etc). Along with any vanilla changes made from the mods (like Railcraft with the rails).

1) Yes, but only if he has an instance set up with forge, and all the mods... easier for him to use the FTB Launcher
2) No, not without limiting yourself
3) Yes, create him a world. Simple as that. But there'd be no "only vanilla" aspect about it, and no nether access, IIRC

Thank you all for your help, it is much appreciated. I think i may just wait until he feels like he wants to play then and enjoy my FTB singleplayer.
