Right, so I get lazy and end up throwing things in random boxes a lot of the time so I decided it was time to make an automatic storage room. Something I could just dump everything into a box and it will sort it all out and put it in the right barrels. I tested it and it worked, but now that I've put the whole thing together, it's not working. Someone mind taking a look?

This is a Provider Pipe hooked up to the chest. The Provider pipe is connected to Basic Logistic Pipes which connect to the Logistic Power Junction, as you can see here.

Which then runs through the floor and connects via basic logistic pipes to Supplier Pipes connected to the tops of all the barrels. The bottom ones are meant to be for a Request box which I'll do later.

I've got all the Supplier Pipes set up to keep the right item stocked and to allow partial requests. But for whatever reasons, it's not working.

I tested the damn thing before I put it all together and it worked...what gives now?

you want to use basic pipes or chassis with item sinks to put items in chests/barrels and provider pipes or provider modules to provide items for the rest of the system the supplier pipe is used to give a specific inventory up to the amount specific in the 3x3 grid area

Personally, I used MK I Chassi pipes with Polymorphic Item Sinc on top of barrels, and MK I Chassi pipes Provider MK II on bottom. only used basic logistics pipes at any intersection, or every 20 smooth stone pipes.
Would show a screenshot but I have the pipes concealed with the Facades, and haven't figured out how to remove just the facade.

MortalDanger, I think it is working just not for what you want. The supplier pipes are only trying to keep a single item stocked in each barrel. Because the barrels already have more than one item the suppliers think they are done. If you were to empty a barrel (the wood block barrel for example) then the provider would send one item to the barrel.

You could use basic logistics pipes in place of your suppliers. Just set each one as the default route for the material you want in the barrel.

You also want a chassis pipe with either and extractor or quicksort module attached to your input chest. A provider will only pull items if there is a request within your network. Extractors and quicksort modules will pull items if there is anything in the chest. Make sure to set a general default route into an overflow chest.

The provider pipes on the bottom of the barrels are fine.

Sneak + Right-Click.

As others have said, opt for extractor pipe and use Chassis Mk 1's with Item Sink card (that way, if the barrel is full, the pipe will route the item to the next inventory that takes it or down the default route). You don' need to use basic logistic pipes everywhere, only at intersections and destinations (for routing); the rest can be gold pipe if you want to keep items moving fast.

Place a MKII Chassis on the top of each barrell. Inside the chassis place a polymorphic sync along with a provider module. For your distrubution chest, place a MKI Chassis with a QuickSort module in it. For the best effect, make your dump chest an Enderchest and make a matching EnderPouch for easy remote dumping of materials as you're mining. Also, attaching a Remote Order Pipe to another Ender Chest in the system and syncing it with a remote order control and then syncing a EnderPouch with that chest will allow you to request items from your storage anywhere in the world.

Yes, I know this works because it's exactly how my system works. The polymorphic sinks and providers ensure that the system works with whatever is in the barrel, so no programming required. I've not touched a chest or barrel in a long time :p

Nice, thanks y'all, I'll try some of that.

As for the ender chest, I already have my ender chests being used for automatic oil gathering...so unless there's a way to separate pairs...

Also, how can you use gold transport pipes? They don't connect to each other.

Not sure I follow. Using dyes on the wool pads on top of an ender chest will change the color configuration and therefor the inventory contents. To share an inventory make sure the color code on top is the same on each ender chest you want to share with.

Okay, so I've got MK2 Chassis on top of each barrel with a Polymorphic ItemSink module and a Provider Module in each. Now, do I put anything in that provider module or leave it blank? I've also hooked up the Mk1 Chassis with a QuickSort module to the ender chest, which a basic logistic pipe on the otherside of the chassis hooked up the Logistic Power Junction. But nothing gets sorted, just stays in the chest. What am I missing?

is there any items inside the barrel with the polymorphic item sink on it? since the poly item sink checks what item is inside of the inventory its connected to and uses that to determine what items it be sent to it so if the barrel is empty then the poly item sink wont give a route for any items. and the provider module can be blank that way it provides all items from the barrel it is connected to which saves you the trouble of having to reconfigure them if you change something in the system

You don't need to put anything in the provider module since barrels only store one item, so having it provide 'everything' is acceptable. For best results, you should have basic logistic pipes at every intersection, this may be your problem. Also ensure you're providing power to the system, or disable it in the config if you don't want to bother.

Yea, I've got it all set up right, I think, but it's still a no go.

Chest to MKI Chassis w/ Quicksort to Basic Logistic Pipe connected to Junction, then Stone Transport Pipes going down...to:
2012-12-21_131621_zps1591268c.png

Coming down to Basic Logistic pipe...with Chassis MK2 over all barrels, with Provider and Polymorphic ItemSink in all of them. All basic logistic pipes are at intersections and Default Route set to Yes.

Eh?

Thanks.

default route is the route items will be send to if they have no destination (via itemsink or anything else like that)
you should turn all off cause there should be only 1 DR in a System.

As I understand you, your problem is, that the items dumped into your chest doesnt get sorted out?
add a Quicksort module to a network of itemsinks
or
add a extractor module onto anything else

btw there is a guy on Youtube which did a tutorial on LP with all his new features (1.4.2 version)

Well, I've done all of that. Unless I'm missing something, I've done exactly what's been said to do. I even turned off power required, but it is not sorting items. It doesn't even pull them out of the chest and into the pipes. Sigh.

can you create a new world with a small(!) setup of yours and then upload your world. I'll take a look into it if you are willing to do that.

and extractors should extract the items out of the chests to the default route even if there is no real other destination in the system
