I have no idea. In my last 1.6.4 world I used the cheat sheet thauminomicon and made a few of the KAMI thingamabobs. These things took forever to craft, I dont think its humanly possible without using the cheat sheet because you would have to research every single thing, even the other thaumcraft addons. But extremely powerful tools, like a pickaxe that mines a 5 block square in front of you, and access to a dimension where you can mine ores that are disabled from generating in the overworld. Perhaps these things could be used to cause havok on a server?

It's likely due to the sheer power of the KAMI items, some servers wouldn't like the boost in power they offer. In 1.1.2 Monster's version of TT, KAMI was merged with base TT, with a config for turning it off (with KAMI enabled by default.)

Anyhow it's defiantly possible to legitimately get KAMI access (i.e. without cheat sheet), but bear in mind every infusion needs at least 4 aspects of which at least one needs at least a full jar (often more) of essentia. You also need nether stars and often unstable infusions to even get started with KAMI creation.

Also it don't necessarily need all other researches. Every TT and Vanilla thaumcraft research, including hiddens. The hardest 3 here i'd say are nine hells focus (scan a firebat), and the primal focus and staff. (hold the primal charm for a while, and scanning the primal focus respectively.) All of these can also be found via knowledge fragments. As a rule of thumb, if the tab is before the TT tab, you'll prob need it.(I know you don't need to touch any Forbidden Magic research for instance, but it's the only addon i know for sure doesn't affect KAMI at all.)

And I am speaking as someone who researched everything on my monster server i played on before i even made much in the way of items. (pretty much only what i needed to do research)
