Windows .exe Launcher Issues

Ok this has happened a couple of times and I'm curious as to why.

What is happening if the launcher refuses to connect (at one point for an entire day) to minecraft.net to authenticate my account. Now this would be fine if the login servers were actually down, however using the vanilla launcher I can connect fine. I can also log into the website fine. This issue does fix itself eventually but it is kind of annoying.

Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Try creating a new profile.

I've tried that, new profile, delete and remake the old one, re-entering password. Nothing seems to work besides time.

try changing your pasword to your minecraft account.

Also have tried that, I restarted my comp and router and everything is working again for now.
