Now that is very very cool.
I hope that mod gets well fleshed out.
Id love to replace my ic2/te3/bc setup with something more visceral.

my worry is, magic boxes are better for server lag...

Dev popping in, hi all! :)

To answer the kind of un-asked question, these aren't and won't ever be restrictive multi-blocks. It's all going to be as modular as I can make it.

I am trying to wrap my head around a tech mod that doesn't introduce a power system.
On the one hand, very minecraft. Simple - block based mechanics.
On the other hand, its feeling too cheap compared to what Im used to paying for ore doubling.

After watching the video:

Is it always going to smash blocks? or is there a plan to make it smash blocks in entity form? Which would enable a multi stage processing, using something like extra utility conveyers, to move entities around, drop them into washers and so on.

Reminds me of RP2 frame quarries. A fully custom setups that were not just a single blocks (quarry, IC2 miner, etc.). Love it. I'm going to follow this mod's progress.

The only issue i'd see is server performance. You could make huge setups potentially with many ticking tile entities to do something equal to TE pulverizer.
I guess it will be mostly for smaller modpacks.

I have to say, I'm a big fan of this idea; it seems to really bring the game back to its roots. I figure most of the single-block machines could be reproduced in a less-magical way.

If I have a concern its that he'd be limiting himself to modpacks that don't already feature magical industry: folk will tend to drift to what works most efficiently otherwise.

There's my forum contribution of 2014; back to silence for me.

Edited: Accidentally implied OP was author of mod. Hopefully corrected.

looks very promising, I'm sure to check it out. Any drawbacks to include it into an exisisting world?

Other than the obvious (its uber-alpha), I'd consider whether it fits with existing industry mods. I couldn't see myself adding it if I already had buildcraft/ic2/thermalexpansion/rotary/etc, because from what I can tell they already do the same services in a simpler(magical) manner. However if I lacked those crutches and were forced to use it, that would be ideal.

...Rotary to a somewhat lesser extent; its slightly less magical than others :)

The lack of any sort of "power" requirement is only temporary.

As for the smashing, It will be able to handle both entities and blocks at some point in the future. Currently working on planning that out.[DOUBLEPOST=1390251269][/DOUBLEPOST]

There shouldn't be, it's actually quite a stable alpha. There also aren't any extra resource items added besides my grindings, so it should all go quite smoothly.[DOUBLEPOST=1390251316][/DOUBLEPOST]

Performance will definitely be an issue unfortunately, but I'll do my best to make it as efficient as possible.

Frankly, I'll happily take a performance-hungry mod if it does something cool. I didn't build a 16GB memory, 4.2 GHz Haswell quadcore desktop system to be a miser about entities and redstone activation! :p
