Hello, I just want to say something simple.

To those concerned, i.e. those who programmed/designed the launcher, please consider not uninstalling the launcher before getting permission from the user to install a brand new program that is perhaps not what the user was expecting. You could, perhaps, instead elect to install the new program to a different location and/or allow the user to use the old app, instead of forcing something new which has a history of breaking things. I had to redownload the app from the website and all my settings were reverted despite the files for the modpack still being intact, including the command line arguments which make the modpacks playable. This is, of course, a minor inconvenience, but in my opinion, a major design flaw that could affect many people.

I am posting in the wrong section because I am not allowed to post in the correct section or another wrong but more related section. I was not able to quickly find how I can gain such permissions and I have 1) every intent of only posting this civil post and 2) no intention of ever returning to this forum. I apologize for this blatant affront to your community and rules. Thank you, and please try to do better.

The App update that migrates the App to the Overwolf platform is just, an update. It is not a whole new program, but by denying permission to install something that it depends on in order to run you are refusing permission to have the App itself installed. I'm not fully aware of what the wording is on that permission request, so if it is misleading in any way let me know, I'll get it looked at and made a little clearer if necessary.
