Hi everyone, I don't know if this is the proper place to post this, but has anyone else had or seen this issue? I have a weird dotted stripe going through my world almost on the 0 axis. It isn't noticeable on land but when you hit any sort of water you can clearly see it.

I haven't followed it but for about 1000 meters but it does continue on for as long as you can see. I have the FTB DW20 pack, mashed together with the Gregtech + Flans mod and Optifine, EE3 removed. The world was generated with v5 of DW20 right after Forestry 2.0 came out. Flans mod/Optifine was added after generation and this stripe was already there.

Pics,

At little further along the axis.

Any info would be appreciated. So far I haven't seen any ill effects from this stripe but I am also hoping it won't become a problem either.

Edit: Issue reported on the ExtraBiomesXL thread: linky

I don't know, very well could be XLBiomes, but the second pic is in an Ocean biome and I don't know if XLB changes anything with vanilla biomes.

You will find that Oceans are extremely resistant to being changed by the default world generator as the generator is programmed to place biomes of comparable height next to each other and the ocean is considerably lower than all the others.

As for your issue, the Marsh biome is faulty and has been faulty for quite a while. To disable this biome use the ExtraBiomesXL config, but be aware that this will shuffle your biomes around when generating new terrain.

Hay found this in my world...I traveled 1500+ meters from my base and turned back. It was out in the ocean. I did not take a closer look.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with this issue. Starting to think this is probably an XL Biomes issue, but I've played a few worlds with XLB and not had this or at least haven't found it yet.

I don't think I'll disable any biomes yet since I'm not sure it has to do with the new biomes added. At least not until its proven somehow that the Marsh or any other biome started the issue.

Strange thing for me is that is pretty much just the chunks along the 0 axis, something I should check is if its along 0 on both X and Z...

Edit: the only thing stopping me from checking is generating more chunks with this issue. However I may make a separate save of this world and see if I can see how far it goes.

I know for a fact that it's the Marsh biome causing the problem simply because removing it fixed the problem for me: I had a Marsh at my spawn. :)

I'll test that in my world and report back. What kind of funky issues should I expect from disabling in a current world?

Just so you know, disabling that does work. Not that I didn't believe you but I wanted to make sure ;)

I don't know what ill effects to expect yet, but at least new chunks won't have this issue and new worlds I create will be free of it as well.

Thanks!

Edit: I'll also update the thread title so other people will know/find it.

To follow up, I'm not sure exactly what happens when existing EBXL worldgen meets new worldgen under a different config, because when I encountered this problem I had just started building the world and so just scrapped the version with Marshes in it.

There's a chance of awkward shifts between biomes at the point where new chunks are generated, which was the vanilla behaviour whenever the worldgen was redesigned.

According to the creator, as long as you only remove the generation (and not the mod/block id) then it shouldn't effect already created area... it will only not show up again when you generate new chunks.

Only issue he mentions is the height might have problems with other chunks. linky

Lol, well when I was doing the actual testing I used creative flight... That screenshot was when I first found it had gone that far into the ocean biome and I was taking a joy ride in my plane :)
