Hello! As you all know, Feed the Beast Ultimate has almost all the mods in the whole launcher, one of them not being Divine RPG. Why isn't that mod added? I think it would be a great idea to have it in Ultimate.

I actually add it to ultimate myself already, along with damage indicators, and would love to see it added officially.

I never played with it, but I saw complaints about it making it way harder to survive in the overworld.

It might be a personal thing, but I don't feel that adding hostiles to Minecraft really adds to the game, not when the fighting is just flat out not interesting to start with. Add possible latency if playing on servers, and welcome to a forum flooded by people complaining that FTB just makes them die over and over again.

The ultimate pack does have the config for it, so I think just placing it in the mods folder would work, but I am pretty sure it would be one of those mods where people flame about instead of just disabling it.

because it's broken.
As well as not good.

For an "RPG" mod, it lacks so many things other RPG mods have, like special gear, grappling hooks, extra heart containers, etc. It'd also be nice to see a change in combat style as well, rather than the standard zombie AI and spam clicking. In my opinion, Ghasts are the most skill-requiring mob in the game. All DivineRPG does is add monsters with higher health, higher damaging weapons to counteract that, and a bunch of other "features" that are really just higher numbers and monotonous combat. DRPG is best served by itself or with few other mods, as a time-killer.

I am a huge fan of RPGs, but after having watched several episodes on youtube of a DivineRPG series, I have to say, I was not impressed.

It might just be me, but it didn't feel like it had changed the gameplay into something more rpg-ish. All the mod seems to add is some gear and more mobs, as well as the goal of becoming king. Concerning gear and mobs, many other mods add these, but don't claim to be an RPG mod. As for the king objective, it didn't seem interesting to me.

I feel that turning minecraft into an RPG game is not something simple. It would be like attempting to make a mod that changes minecraft into a turn-based strategy game. It might be possible, but definitely not something you can pull off very easily.

DRPG adds a bunch of near-identical items and mobs, with really high number values. My friend likes it though, because it's kind of fun if you have a bunch of people playing it with you. But if you're just one person, each enemy takes forever to kill and it's an absolute grind.

I disagree about adding it to the Ultimate because DRPG is more of a grindfest to me, but that's just my opinion.
Beside, isn't most DRPG weapons better than ummm.....power tools? I also believe that it doesn't match the theme of the FTB Ultimate.

The dimensions are just poorly designed quantity over quality
Yeah, I was watching a LP with Divine RPG and I stopped watching because every dimension seemed to be a skylands style dimension. The gist was the same for every one they entered, "gather resources, enter new dimension, build bridge down to nearest island, gather local ores, make new stuff, exit dimension, build new portal, lather, rinse, repeat".
Mind you I only saw two dimensions before deciding that a pallet swap does not equal a new dimension, even if everything is harder to kill, and stopped watching.

That being said, I'd try it out... if they removed the bullshit overworld mobs which kill a unarmored player in one hit.

The first 5 dimensions are like that they have 3 that are not but the mods so buggy, have the mobs in the new vethea dimension are frozen

FYI, atm the mod is going through a refactor and redesign and rebalance. I know they've reworked a lot of the dimensions not to be quite so same-y. Now, if only they would get around to actually releasing the darn thing.

Umm, i wouldn't mind it being added, because I would like to have harder mobs in the Overworld (in fact, im working on a mod to do that because im tired of the simplicity of combat and how you can OHK everything.. ).. But im voting a No, because i know this mod is laggy, and not too well done.. And as Lambert said, it's broken in some way, because of the massive damage stuff it adds.. Simply killing every vanilla thing (including the wither) isn't something i look for... And i don't like the way it's progression works..The mod it's all about making more damage, receiving more damage, getting more dimensions. But EVERY dimension is the same but with a different color palette.. And that's not really cool.. If it's being added i would play with it but only use the overworld stuff.

The main problem for any mod focussing on killing mobs is that fighting in Minecraft is boring as hell.

Even worse, on servers with a bit of latency, you can even get randomly hit by mobs that should not be able to in vanilla.

If you ever want to make a mod focus on fighting, you have to add variety to the combat mechanisms.

Inicraft/tinker construct adds weapons that act differently, ars magica adds a variety of spells...
So it's not like it's impossible to make the fighting more fun.

Just making mobs deal more damage and have more health, and then giving access to higher armour rating and better sword just makes it grinding. I seriously see no reason to play mods that just take the most boring part of minecraft, don't change it one bit, but still center the whole experience around it.

If you wanted to make an RPG, why not use the experience system that's already there, tweak the combat mechanism and add different stats and powers?

A friend tried it on a LAN world with me once we got it set up not to conflict. There were a few rather serious bugs - killing certain mobs resulted in a crash, going to Vethea/Icika also crashed, unable to leave Dungeon of Arcana and all dimensions taking absolutely ages to load - but once past that... the only issue I really had were that there's a whole host of mobs that ignore practically everything up to and including light to spawn, so there was no way to properly build up without having to fight them off all the time. And I'm not really much of a combat person myself.

The dimensions induce nausea and migraines. Seriously, the differences between dimensions are shades of ugly, monochromatic, eye strain. The mobs are poorly done and extremely derpy. Add in monotonous grinding and everything else mentioned and you're left with a severely horrible play experience, to me at least. I even tried playing it and the experience was horrible. I'd rather play Grgtech on brutality mode with NEI disabled.

Never thought of it that way. Oh well. Hopefully someone will make a RPG mod with more in-depth combat.
