Curse Modpacks on Linux?

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Curse Modpacks on Linux?

Launcher Type FTB Launcher

Modpack All The Mods

Modpack version 2.2/Latest

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file

Details of the issue I wish to play this pack with a friend. He's using Windows, and the Curse Launcher, I'm using Linux and the FTB Launcher.

I want to know if there's a way to get this modpack to work in either FTB Launcher or MultiMC. In the thread about the new Curse Launcher they said there would be a solution to play modpacks on Linux, but I don't see any way to play this one at all, I've tried getting it to run in FTB AND in MultiMC.

You need to contact Curse if you want to play their packs on linux, not much we can do. FTB is committed to making all our packs available on Linux.

FTB where meant to be swapping over to the curse/twitch launcher but because curse didn't get off their backside and make a Linux launcher FTB have to leave the legacy launcher out.

Sadly curse after three years have still not made even the slightest bit of progress and still say it's on the roadmap so fat chance of them making one anytime soon but I do wish FTB could change a few things in the old Linux legacy launcher so that it could list any curse pack there is and let you play that.

If they did that then we could at least not spend the next how many years waiting for curse to do anything by then most Linux users would have given up on them :/

Eh, I've given up on the Curse launcher. Which is why my mod pack is released on ATLauncher.

I'm just surprised that Curse got purchased by... was it Amazon?... before M$ had a chance to snap them up and consolidate the paid mod market. As it is, they've got paid content in the Win10 version, and I can only foresee that being expanded into the modding side of things, despite what they are claiming at the moment. It's about a logical a step as Bethesda's new Creator's Club or whatever the heck they're trying to call it. Microtransactions are extremely profitable when tied to a popular IP. It makes business sense. Even if it does piss us off.

Even if they wanted to they could not sell mods without breaking the EULA right now and I think it was twitch that got curse then amazon that got twitch but you would need to google that lol

I like the way the ATLauncher handles client side mods and stuff but they are extreamly tight on packs getting in especially for small communities who are just a few friends strong and MultiMC is meant to be working on a way to at least download and import packs from curse but vazkii has a curse downloader on his github for that too
