I just spent 10 minutes tracking down the configs folder in my FTB install in order to disable IC2 sounds (being new enough to mods that I'd just recently realized that IC2 sounds are disableable, and 'green' enough to how mods are set up that I didn't even realize there was a configs folder), and it got me wondering... any chance that, for commonly-changed configs (sound settings, lag-reduction settings [making portals not transparent, ex.]), the launcher could implement an UI?

Or, at the very least, could we get a button on the Mod Pack Editor screen that causes the configs folder to be opened (similar to the "Open Texture Packs" button in-game)?

Thanks. And, thanks for the modpack. Now, time to take my own advice and switch off transparent portals.

This is likely the more feasible solution (we'll ignore my inner elitist voice that says "people who can't find configs shouldn't be editing them!", it likes to say things like that).

If this is a suggestion for the launcher then I'm sure a mod can move it to the launcher feedback forum for you. :)

This would probably need to be done as a separate mod pack as it would require alternative config files. Certainly do-able though.

I was unaware of a launcher feedback page - I apologize for the faux pas.

Edit: posted my original post on the correct page; any mods that happen by, feel free to delete this rather than move it. Sorry for making extra work for you.

this is a good idea, i'll admit.

i think a dialog box displaying all the mods, and then somewhere to edit all the configs would be really cool, i'll look into it :)

Another option that I could request would be an export / import config option. That way it would be very simply for config sets to be made and passed around without complex instructions on what settings to alter and whatnot. How simple would this be to do?

...an export / import config option...

This should be pretty easy, IMO. I am not 100% sure, but since to install some mods you only have to get a ZIP file into the mods folder, would exporting a zip of the configs be an option? And then, maybe, make it so it just exports the files that are not the default FTB configs, so you make it a bit efficient both in terms of exporting time and filesize... Also, maps could distribute with 'config packs', so for example you, as a mapmaker, could ensure the user needs Railcraft steel to make their mining drill ( a config option in Gregtech), forcing them to visit the Nether to get parts for a blast furnace, thus structuring the progression of the map with certainty...

I like both of these options.

Yes yes the config folder is right there and not hard to find, and frankly if you don't know how to find it then you should do some research before messing with configs any. But, what is the point in having a launcher without having those little things added. Those kind of options are what made multiMC so epic. All of this and I am pretty sure I have heard Slow say "No I can't work on my modpack, there is no work to do we are just waiting for mods to update right now" And to this I say, well there are plenty of features the
community would love to see added. :)

That was my thought. A simple exported zip file. Then we could have a thread on the forums dedicated to various configurations that people commonly ask for (such as the ones that disable parts of GregTech). This feature would be really nice to have and would support those who aren't highly computer literate.
