Today, the avatars seemed to have a better idea of what Tahara was talking about the other day, if not precisely how to fulfill Tahara's requests. There was much more discussion, certainly, if not as much agreement. In the end, erindalc was led up to the altar. Unlike Nojr the day before, there was no resistance, no sudden burst of flame... in fact, erindalc seemed almost content to meet this fate. Perhaps he knew that his imprisonment would only be temporary, and that after the land was cleansed, he could be set free. And perhaps he was willing to go through this... because he had not been corrupted in the first place?
Anyhow, the ritual was carried out, and when it was done, all that remained was the crystal that now contained erindalc's essence, glowing a deep purple.
The avatars slept fitfully that night, mulling over the thought that they may have done the wrong thing, by binding one of their own in that way. Most of them did, at least- someone, evidently, must've been up to no good, as in the morning, fowltief was gone. All that remained was a faint magenta mist hanging over the mountaintop.
There was hardly any discussion today at all. One avatar informed the others that he'd identified the only remaining corrupted avatar, and the others- even RealKC- seemed to believe him. Without further ado, they dragged Real up to the altar and activated the ritual one more time. He only resisted a little bit, and not nearly as violently as Nojr had. Mostly, he kept turning himself invisible, summoning illusions, and generally being uncooperative. But, eventually, they managed to get a handle on him, activated the ritual, and then all that remained was a crystal glowing a light gray.
With that, Tahara spoke up again for the first time since the beginning of this "meeting". He commended Shazam, Pyure, and dragon_fang for their good work in identifying and binding Nojr and Real, then tapped a bit of the energy stored in erindalc's crystal and channeled it into Pyure. Pyure, in turn, called forth a piercing blue light, momentarily illuminating the entire mountaintop and revealing to everyone present that Nojr and Real's crystals were indeed the only ones affected by the corruption, and that the still-unbound avatars, as well as erindalc's crystal itself, were all still pure. The avatars had indeed succeeded in binding those who had been corrupted- but what to do about them now? The crystals, after all, were never meant to be permanent- their essence would gradually leak out, allowing them to cause trouble once again- if some short-sighted mortal didn't crack open the crystals first.
Fortunately, Tahara had an answer to that as well. He first channeled a small amount of erindalc's energy into the pink mist hanging over the mountain. The mist quickly bloomed into a dense, magenta cloud- and when it cleared, erindalc, fowltief, and VikeStep were standing among the other avatars once again, as if none of the events of the past few days had happened at all. Tahara then asked erindalc to lend some of his strength to himself and to dragon_fang. Dragon_fang then summoned a protective containment field around the two corrupted crystals, while Shazam fired a bolt of pink light, shattering them. With the essence of Nojr and Real released, Tahara blasted them with his own white light. When that was done, Pyure did his thing again, revealing that Nojr and Real had indeed been pyureified.
