Biome soil-sampling mod?

I'm in a bit of a need of a mod that I'm surprised I can't find.

Anyone know of a mod that essentially reports what sorts of ores and such exist in the targeted biome?

Ideally it wouldn't be 100% precise, but would instead report proportions or chances to find a given ore in that biome.

I picture a block which would drill down and take "soil samples" and give feedback (in a gui?) along the lines of: "Sample contains 0.4% gold, 1% iron, 0.004% iridium" etc.

This would be particularly neato on hardcore GT-type mods.

PS: I can't find tetrahedrite where I expect to according to various sources...

Good idea. If you use or can add Mekanism, the Digital Miner can do that. It will scan a radius/depth range and report the number of matching blocks that match the filter you set.
The scanning costs no power, just the mining.

The pack would "benefit" too much from Mekanism alas :) Its a rather oldschool difficult GT mod.

Man, if it weren't a part of the miner, I could import mekanism, minetweak out 99% of the recipes, and just keep the scanner.
